Our red brick looks dull compared to this cardinal.
A piece of corn hidden in his beak.
The lady in waiting.
Love how these birdies puff up their feathers for the cold weather.
Mr. and Mrs. Don't you just love her hairdo?
Female escaping.
Gathering feed.
The scout on duty.
Ready for swooping in on the food. Never identified the large brown bird in the distance. But there is another scout on the ground.
Sleet!!!!
Not snow! Sleet and Ice!!!!
Too windy for agave covers. We are waiting until the wind dies down.
View from inside the mudroom door. Lonely birthday present bench and unprotected agaves in pots. Oh mercy me!
I love cardinals - it's such a treat to have those flashes of colour in the yard. Gorgeous photos!
ReplyDeleteI hope the agaves survived.... :)
Me, too! We finally got the agaves covered this afternoon. Wind was still whipping, but maybe the covers will help. What will we do with this yard when we are "really old"? Linda
DeletePretty cardinals! I saw one in the midst of the 25-30 feasting goldfinches, but he took off before I could snap a pic. I need a better camera than my phone. His lady friend showed up later :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds. The red color is so attracktive
ReplyDeleteSeems we are all getting a stern lecture from Mother Nature this winter. Our cardinals seem to disappear in the winter. Probably headed for someone with a feeder. They will be back in spring to nest in the cedars out back.
ReplyDeleteWonderful cardinal photos. I notice several of the birds taking snow baths in our yard this morning. Of course by the time I went for the camera, they were gone.
