Kitchen Sink on AWOL. Shelfie #4

What would you do if your kitchen water faucet was kaput (kapot in Dutch)?

I know! Call a plumber!

Out where we live, that is not always as easy as it sounds. So we first tried to remedy the situation ourselves.

Last week Hub tried to dismantle the handle to see if he could repair/replace any worn out parts. He was stopped "dead in his tracks" by parts that would not budge.

As the handle is set for cold water, he turned the hot water handle back on below the sink so we can still use our dishwasher. And we can use the sink, but who wants to haul water from somewhere else? Isn't that what my grandma did before she got running water in her house?

Well, we do have a faucet and very small sink on our beverage bar that is a few steps from the main sink. And we have the large utility sink located just outside the kitchen across from the washing machine/dryer.

So while we wait for the new faucet to arrive from Amazon so that we can search for a plumber, we have to improvise by using either the tiny or giant sinks that are a few steps away from the kitchen workspace.

No real inconvenience, I guess, compared to my grandma having to haul water in from the well or the pump.

  1. Doesn't sound like you're too badly off...although it is a nuisance. Plumbers are hard to get here too.

  2. I wish I could send my plumber to you. I adore him. If he weren't married and if I didn't love Willy Dunne Wooters, I would be after the plumber in a flash. He's such a good plumber and so nice.

    Love,

  5. Isn't it funny how we take for granted our everyday items that we use, when the are not working correctly we sure do miss the convenience of them. Glad you have a sink nearby that you can use. Hope you find a plumber to install your new faucet.

  6. It's really important that we keep good maintenance of our faucets and sinks, since those are vital parts of our daily life activities. After all, the kitchen is where most of the action takes place. Anyway, I hope you've already found a great professional plumber who can help you. Good luck!

  7. It must've been vexing that you had to hire someone just to replace your faucet. But it is for the best, as you won't have to deal with it yourself. Anyway, how is the sink holding up? I hope things are a lot better when it comes to cleaning your dishes, and that you don’t have to haul water from the well or the pump just like your grandmother. Haha! Thanks for sharing this, Linda. All the best!
