I still try to follow my dad's lesson of "if you can't say anything good about someone/something, don't say anything." And the odd time I have given my honest opinion, I have been "called out", so to speak. So my best bet is to keep my words to myself (aka shut up).
I chose not to join Facebook, but I have found ways to see photos that my family share there. It is interesting to read some of the comments made by friends and family. Some are sweet. Some are kind. Some are comical. Some are catty. And some are just right bossy.
I will leave it at that. Who knows? Maybe Ms. Bossy reads this blog and will get the message to "back off!"
If the shoe fits?
I got the same parental advice.
ReplyDeleteI visit facebook because of family but I sure can live without it. I never play the games as I think they are ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI don't get involved in political discussions on Facebook. That can be deadly. I don't play the games, either. Every now and again on my blog I express an opinion having to do with politics, or I point out that an email being passed around is not true. One of my most popular posts ever is the one in which I debunked the email that was sent to me about 10 times that claimed Mr. Roger was a battle-hardened veteran who wore his sweater to hide his tattoos. I couldn't let that one continue to be passed around without a correction since Mr. Rogers was never in the military. I wonder how these things get started. Does someone really believe it, or does someone think, "I'm going to see if I can fool a bunch of people"?
ReplyDeleteLove,

There's a lot to be said for reticence.... :)
ReplyDeleteI try to follow that rule, too, Linda. If I can't say something nice I move on and/or say nothing. I am on Facebook but don't do much of anything there...or FAKEbook as I like to call it. I hope whoever is stirring up problems stops! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteSigh. There is just too much snarkiness out there, don't you think?
